MAGIC GARDEN
Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA
A project through Philadelphia Horticultural Society and Mural Arts
12 feet x 8 feet
Mr. Pomodoro is a character I created for this mural. I was selected amongst several hundred applicants to do a large scale mural for Orlando’s annual mural festival. As there was no set theme or topics to follow I chose this character to represent me and my background. I’m an anxious little Italian tomato, so I draw and paint a lot of tomatoes. And perfect for a state that deals in agriculture.
In terms of design I knew the mural would be by a busy road and wanted it to be simple but bold so people could digest whether they are driving or walking by.
After the show…
After the Flower show was done, Mural Arts gave me the option to either donate the plywood boards to be reused or to take the mural as my own property. I decided to keep the mural and try to sell it or donate it.
After keeping it in storage for quite a bit, my friends at Indy Hall in Northern Liberties in Philly were kind enough to give me a space in their facility to store and display my mural. My handyman friend Kyle Miers helped me install it.
